Jim Schaefer

CEO & President

With a background in finance and a deep appreciation for family legacy, Jim Schaefer leads Schaefer Homes with a steady hand. After graduating with an economics degree from Towson University, Jim put his skills to work at JP Morgan in Newark, Delaware and Washington D.C. In 2015, he joined his family’s homebuilding business, and a year later, he struck out on his own to establish Schaefer Homes. Jim’s dedication to building exceptional homes matches his commitment to fostering a strong company culture. Outside of the office, Jim enjoys hitting the golf course, getting lost in a good book, or trying his luck on a fishing trip. Jim is also a pillar of the community, serving on the MBIA Board as Chapter Chair for Southern Maryland and a member of the Upper Marlboro Rotary Club.

Brian Messineo

COO

Brian Messineo brings over two decades of experience in land acquisition to Schaefer Homes. His expertise spans Maryland and Delaware, having worked for both industry giants and regional builders alike. Brian’s responsibilities encompass identifying and securing new development opportunities, overseeing feasibility studies and budgets, navigating contract negotiations, and ensuring smooth land approvals for subdivisions and single lots. He also plays a crucial role in establishing homeowner association (HOA) structures for new communities. Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Strategic Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Maryland, University College. His dedication extends beyond the workplace, with active involvement in the Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBADE). When Brian’s not working, he enjoys spending time with his wife Kristin and their four children, Lily, Geaton, Sonny, and Camilla.

Josh Burton

Head of Field Operations

Josh Burton embodies the spirit of living life to the fullest. When he’s not working, you’ll find him indulging in his passions for fishing, cooking, and spending quality time with family and friends. But his true joy lies in his Head of Field Operations role at Schaefer Homes. For the past three years, Josh has been a driving force behind the company’s success, having found his dream job after diverse experiences. Josh grew up in Calvert County, Maryland, and his dedication to excellence is evident in his leadership of the field operations team.

Nate Nagle

Head of Pre-Construction

Nate Nagle, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of invaluable experience in the construction industry, began his journey as a framer, where he cultivated his skills and discovered his profound passion for the intricacies of construction. With his wealth of experience, unwavering commitment to quality, and genuine love for his work, Nate is an integral part of the Schaefer Homes family, ensuring that every project exceeds expectations and embodies the essence of craftsmanship and excellence. Beyond his professional pursuits, Nate’s dedication to his craft is paralleled by his devotion to his family and the serene lifestyle by the bay, where he resides with his beloved wife and two wonderful children. When he’s not immersed in blueprints and project plans, Nate finds joy in woodworking, coaching various sports teams, and cherishing moments spent with their three cherished rescue dogs.

Jamie Richardson

Client Experience Manager

Jamie Richardson joined Schaefer Homes as the Client Experience Manager, bringing a wealth of experience and dedication to the role.

She moved to Maryland from Pennsylvania in 1994 after earning a degree in Elementary Education. Initially starting part-time in the New Homes Industry to supplement her income, Jamie quickly discovered a passion for working with homebuyers and builders, which led to a full-time career.

Over the years, Jamie advanced to selling communities for large-scale builders in the late 90s and managing sales staff for multiple builders in Southern Maryland and Virginia. She is also a licensed Realtor and remains highly active in the Realtor community, receiving numerous sales achievement awards throughout her career.

Jamie loves working for a new home builder because it allows her to be part of one of the most significant moments in people’s lives—helping them get into their dream homes.

Jamie has lived in Huntingtown, Maryland, for over 20 years, where she has raised three children. In her free time, Jamie enjoys volunteering, spending time at the beach, and cherishing moments with the ones she loves.

Drew Stafford

Superintendent

Drew Stafford brings a wealth of construction knowledge to Schaefer Homes with over two decades of experience in the industry. Following in his family’s footsteps, Drew’s background includes commercial excavation, maintaining family rental properties, and working for a municipality, where he oversaw the upkeep of buildings, infrastructure, and parks. Drew’s dedication to quality and meticulous attention to detail ensure that every Schaefer Homes project meets the highest standards. Drew is a devoted family man who enjoys spending time outdoors whenever possible.
