Schaefer Homes Named to Inc. 5000 List

Thanks to five beautiful, thriving communities and 254% growth over the past three years, Annapolis-based Schaefer Homes was recently ranked #2,061 on the 2024 Inc. 5000 list.

This illustrious ranking has recognized the fastest-growing privately held companies in the United States since 1982.

The publication noted that Schaefer Homes is “building homes faster and of better quality with more options than competitors.” Founded in 2016, the construction company has enjoyed “significant business growth and success” with a lengthy list of accomplishments:

Revenue Growth:
Schaefer Homes greatly increased its revenue from 2022 to 2023, going from $2.4 million to $7.92 million — a 230% increase.

Industry Impact:
Along with their partners and architects, Schaefer Homes developed some of the most efficient and affordable single-family homes in Anne Arundel County. For example, the company’s Eastport model home — which features a 2,307 square-foot open floor plan — is specifically designed as a single-family home suitable for high-density areas.

Customer Satisfaction:
The company utilizes an “open door” policy ensuring that clients can communicate effectively with every level of the organization, and takes pride in its fast response time in answering customer questions. Many clients have personally met company president and CEO Jim Schaefer at walkthroughs, site visits, or selection meetings. In fact, past clients regularly invite potential Schaefer Homes clients to visit their homes.

Notable Projects:
In January 2024, Schaefer Homes was featured in the local Arundel Report for completing its first subdivision at Woodside Glen. The company took raw land to 15 settled homes in just 15 months, with an average sales price of $565,000. Woodside Glen became the most affordable single-family subdivision in Anne Arundel County.

Team Growth and Development:
The company’s commitment to delivering an unmatched product and client experience is demonstrated in its investment in industry-leading personnel — adding eight new employees over the past year. These new team members have included chief operating officer Brian Messineo, head of pre-construction Nate Nagle, and client experience manager Jamie Richardson.

Community Engagement:
Schaefer Homes is deeply committed to giving back to the community in a variety of ways:

  • The company is a proud supporter of local youth sports teams in both Anne Arundel and Calvert County.
  • Company president Jim Schaefer is a member of the Upper Marlboro Rotary Club.
  • The company has board members of the Maryland Building Industry Association, which supports efforts to create new housing to satisfy the growing needs and undersupply in Maryland.
  • Schaefer Homes also employs members of Soil Conservation in Anne Arundel County.
  • Jim Schaefer serves on the board of the Entrepreneurs Organization of Baltimore, which embodies the entrepreneurial spirit ingrained in the everyday mentality at Schaefer Homes.

Adaptability and Innovation:
Schaefer Homes is constantly exploring new methodologies and practices to make products that are beautiful and efficient. To adapt to rising prices, the team has modified its designs to eliminate excess square footage while still maintaining the open floorplan feel of its homes. Along with their architects, Schaefer Homes works tirelessly to ensure best-in-class designs and products.

“The entire team at Schaefer Homes is proud of this achievement,” said Jim Schaefer. “While this honor is worth celebrating, we always keep in mind that serving our clients to the best of our ability is what earned this prestigious ranking.”

Currently, Schaefer Homes is building communities including:

  • Kinsey’s Ridge, single family homes (Calvert County)
  • Oyster Bay, townhomes with included boat slips (Calvert County)
  • Greenview West, townhomes (St. Mary’s)
