Winter Home Maintenance Tips

The holidays are upon us, which means winter is almost here! Maintaining your house throughout the year is important for the safety of your family as well as getting the longest lifespan out of your home. With that said, here are a few winter maintenance items to be sure to check off your list:
  1. Inspect your roof for storm damage or leaks. Hire a professional to address anything that should be fixed, and have them take a look at the gutters and downspouts while they are up there.
  2. Use a snake to unclog your drains in your sinks, tubs, and shower drains.
  3. Clear the dust from your bathroom exhaust fans.
  4. Change your air filters. This will allow your HVAC system to run more efficiently!
  5. Deep clean your dishwasher.
  6. Test your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
  7. If you haven’t already, hire a professional to do a chimney sweep.
  8. Turn off your outdoor water supply and drain the pipes, including the outdoor faucets and hoses.
  9. Clean your showerheads and faucet aerators.
  10. Seal up any cracks around windows or door frames to keep your home warmer.
