Jim Schaefer
Chief Executive Officer
With a background in finance and a deep appreciation for family legacy, Jim Schaefer leads Schaefer Homes with a steady hand. After graduating with an economics degree from Towson University, Jim put his skills to work at JP Morgan in Newark, Delaware and Washington D.C.
In 2015, he joined his family’s homebuilding business, and a year later, he struck out on his own to establish Schaefer Homes. Jim’s dedication to building exceptional homes matches his commitment to fostering a strong company culture.
Outside of the office, Jim enjoys hitting the golf course, getting lost in a good book, or trying his luck on a fishing trip. Jim is also a pillar of the community, serving on the Maryland Building Industry Association board of directors as chairperson for the Southern Maryland Chapter and is the Vice President of the Upper Marlboro Rotary Club as well as a board member of the Home Builders Care Foundation.

Tom Baldwin
President & Chief Revenue Officer
With more than 19 years of homebuilding experience, Tom brings extensive knowledge and leadership to Schaefer Homes. Throughout his career, Tom has led teams in delivering more than 2,500 homes to families across the region, giving him a comprehensive perspective on every aspect of the building process from planning and design to construction and customer satisfaction.
As President and Chief Revenue Officer, Tom is responsible for guiding Schaefer Homes' strategic vision, driving revenue growth, and ensuring operational excellence. His leadership encompasses the oversight of land acquisition, community development, and construction operations, driving sales and marketing strategies to achieve sustainable growth, maintaining the highest standards of quality across the business, and more.
Tom holds a bachelor’s degree from Salisbury University and is a NAHB Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS). He is an active member of the Maryland Building Industry Association, serving on the 50+ Housing Council, the Sales and Marketing Council, and the Future Industry Leaders Association.
Recognized for his industry contributions, Tom was named Sales and Marketing Manager of the Year by MBIA in 2014 and honored on Professional Builder’s Forty Under 40 list in 2017. He has also shared his expertise nationally as a two-time speaker for the National Association of Home Builders.
Currently, Tom serves on the executive committee of the board of directors for the Maryland Building Industry Association, underscoring his commitment to advancing the growth and development of the homebuilding industry.

Brian Messineo
Chief Operations Officer
Brian Messineo brings over two decades of experience in land acquisition to Schaefer Homes. His expertise spans Maryland and Delaware, having worked for both industry giants and regional builders alike.
Brian’s responsibilities encompass identifying and securing new development opportunities, overseeing feasibility studies and budgets, navigating contract negotiations, and ensuring smooth land approvals for subdivisions and single lots. He also plays a crucial role in establishing homeowner association (HOA) structures for new communities.
Brian holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a minor in Strategic Entrepreneurial Management from the University of Maryland, University College. His dedication extends beyond the workplace, with active involvement in the Maryland Building Industry Association (MBIA), the Urban Land Institute (ULI), and the Home Builders Association of Delaware (HBADE).
Outside of work, Brian enjoys spending time with his wife and four children.

Dani Bottcher
Chief Accounting Officer
As Chief Accounting Officer at Schaefer Homes, Dani Bottcher plays a pivotal role in overseeing the company’s financial strategy and operations, ensuring long-term stability, strategic growth and financial health.
With over 15 years of experience in finance and accounting, Dani specializes in working with small to mid-size companies focused on expansion. She has a proven track record in cash flow management, financial planning, forecasting, and enhancing operational effectiveness, helping businesses optimize their financial resources and achieve strategic goals.
A graduate of Loyola University Maryland with a B.A. in Accounting, Dani’s career includes roles at industry-leading firms Deloitte and The Carlyle Group. Through these experiences, she built a strong reputation for success and excellence in the financial sector, consistently driving positive results and fostering high-performing teams.
Her expertise in strategic finance allows her to guide Schaefer Homes’ continued growth and operational efficiency.
A lifelong Maryland resident, Dani lives in Annapolis with her husband, Steven, and their four children. She enjoys boating on the Chesapeake Bay, exploring all Annapolis has to offer, traveling to new destinations, and indulging her passion for great food and culinary experiences.

Nate Nagle
Head of Pre-Construction
Nate Nagle, a seasoned professional with over 25 years of invaluable experience in the construction industry, began his journey as a framer, where he cultivated his skills and discovered his profound passion for the intricacies of construction.
With his wealth of experience, unwavering commitment to quality, and genuine love for his work, Nate is an integral part of the Schaefer Homes’ family, ensuring that every project exceeds expectations and embodies the essence of craftsmanship and excellence.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Nate’s dedication to his craft is paralleled by his devotion to his family and the serene lifestyle by the bay, where he resides with his wife and two children. When he’s not immersed in blueprints and project plans, Nate finds joy in woodworking, coaching various sports teams, and spending time with their three rescue dogs.
